Union Observer. The President of the Union or their designate may sit as an observer on a selection panel, including panel deliberations following selection tests, for positions in the bargaining unit. The observer shall be a disinterested party. This clause shall not apply to excluded positions.
Union Observer. An in-service applicant may request that the President of the Union or his/her designate sit as an Observer on a selection panel for positions in the College Bargaining Units. The Observer shall be a disinterested Party. This section shall not apply to excluded positions.
Union Observer. The Union shall have the right to appoint a member of the bargaining unit to be present as an observer at all meetings of the University Review Committee. The Observer may not participate in any manner in the deliberations of the Committee but shall have the right to communicate his/her observations to the chairperson between meetings or, if deemed necessary, to request a recess in the proceedings of a given meeting for the purpose of communicating with the Chairperson of the Committee. The Observer shall receive a copy of the recommendations of the Committee sent to the President pursuant to Article 11.1.45.
Union Observer. 11.03.1 The Union shall be entitled to one (1) observer, with speaking rights solely around issues concerning the Collective Agreement, at all meetings and interviews conducted by the Employer regarding the filling of all vacant positions. The Union shall be notified at least five (5) working days in advance of all such meetings or interviews. Failure to conform to the provisions of this Article shall render the meeting or interview null and void and the matter shall be reconvened and proceed in accordance with this Article, unless the Employer and the Union agree on some other remedy.
11.03.2 Nothing in this Article impinges on the Employer's right to request opinions of the Union observer on matters not relevant to the Collective Agreement, nor on the Union observer's right to refuse to comply with such requests.
Union Observer. COPE 378 shall notify the appropriate Director that a request for a Union Observer has been made as soon as possible after a posting closes. The President of the Union or their designate may sit as an observer on a selection panel, including panel deliberations for positions in the COPE 378 bargaining unit. The observer shall be a disinterested party. Leave with pay shall be granted for the attendance of an observer where no travel is required, if reasonable notice is provided. The BCGEU is not responsible for expenses incurred by the observer. The BCGEU will make a reasonable effort to coordinate interview scheduling with the Union Observer's calendar.
Union Observer. Where a competition for a posted vacancy may be contentious the Employer upon the advice of the Union may arrange for a Union observer to attend the applicant interviews, without loss of pay. ARTICLE 15, LAYOFF, RECALL & BUMPING
15.01 Definition Consistent with the following Articles, a layoff shall be defined as the loss by a regular employee of the opportunity to work in the position he/she currently occupies as a result of either:
(a) the elimination of such position, or
(b) any reduction in working hours for a regular full-time employee, or
(c) the permanent reduction of the working hours in their position in excess of one
(1) hour per day for a regular part-time or regular seasonal employee, or
(d) the reduction in the rate of pay (pay grade) in the position as a result of a re-evaluation of the position.
Union Observer. The Union shall have the right to 1 non-voting observer at interviews for classifications covered by the Agreement. District shall notify the designated Union Observer 1 week in advance of the interview date in writing.
Union Observer a) Where the selection process for a regular position in the Bargaining Unit includes applicant interviews, an internal applicant may request that a Union Representative sit as an Observer of such interviews.
b) The Observer will not be employed in the same Branch (City) / Work Location (Parks) as the vacancy.
c) The Observer shall not ask questions, make comments or participate in any manner during interviews.
d) It is the expectation that the Observer will sit on all interviews for a given posting. However, the process will not be delayed to accommodate attendance by the Observer.
e) Information obtained by the Observer relating to the selection process will be kept strictly confidential.
f) In cases where the Observer is employed with the Employer, leave to sit as a Union Observer shall be granted as leave without pay pursuant to Clause 9.17(e) and subject to other applicable terms set out under Clause 9.
Union Observer. The President of the Union or designate may sit as an observer on selection panels for posted positions within the bargaining unit, including the selection process for acting assistant managers. A copy of the observer's notes will be provided to the Employer upon completion of the selection process.
Union Observer. The Employer shall notify the Union of the time, place and date of the assessment of applications and/or interviews for any full-time or part-time positions for which any employee has applied. The Union shall be entitled have a representative present to function as an observer during such assessments or interviews. All time involved as an observer will be without loss of pay. applicants who vacant positions shall be notified, in writing, prior to commencing such duties, of the classification, range and step they will occupy. The names of the successful applicants shall be posted and sent to the Union weekly.
