Common use of Bridging of Service Clause in Contracts

Bridging of Service. If a regular employee terminates after August 1, 1979, as a result of a decision to raise a dependent child or dependent children, and is re-employed, upon application he/she shall be credited with length of service accumulated at time of termination for the purposes of benefits based on service seniority. The following conditions shall apply: (a) the employee must have been a regular employee with at least three (3) years of service seniority at time of termination; (b) the resignation must indicate the reason for termination; (c) the break in service shall be for no longer than six (6) years; and during that time the employee must not have been engaged in remunerative employment for more than six (6) months excepting employment with this Employer as an auxiliary; (d) the previous length of service shall not be reinstated until successful completion of the probationary period on re-employment.
