Cement Mortar. Cement mortar shall be machine mixed and unless otherwise specified, consist of three (3) parts of sand to one (1) part of Ordinary Portland cement mixed and thoroughly incorporated together. Just enough water will be added to give workability appropriate to its use. The above proportions are by volume. Mortar shall be used whilst freshly mixed and no softening or re-tempering will be allowed.
Cement Mortar. Cement mortar shall be of proportions specified for each type of work in the schedule. It shall be composed to Portland cement and sand. The ingredients shall be accurately gauged by measured and shall be well and evenly mixed together in a mechanical pan mixer, care being taken notto add more water than is required. No mortar that has began to set shall be used. River sand shall be used unless otherwise specified. If hand mixing is allowed it shall be done on pucca water proof platform. The gauged materials shall be put on the platform and mixed dry water will then be added and the whole mixed again until it is homogeneous and of uniform colour. Not more than one bag of cement shall be mixed at one time and which can be consumed within half an hour of its mixing.
Cement Mortar i) Must be freshly mixed : Cement mortar will only be mixed in such quantities as can be used up on the work within half an hour of mixing. Mortar which has been mixed longer or which has taken its initial set will on no account be used on the work or remixed with fresh mortar. It must be immediately removed from the site or work.
Cement Mortar. 1. Where specified, pipe and fittings shall be lined with cement mortar as specified in AWWA C205. 2. Fittings and specials larger than 24 inches, not fabricated from centrifugally lined straight sections, shall require 2-inch by 4-inch by 13-gage self-furring wire mesh reinforcement for hand- applied lining.
Cement Mortar. 6.2.3.1. Proportioning Proportioning on weight basis shall be preferred taking into account specific gravity of sand and moisture content. Boxes of suitable size shall be prepared to facilitate proportioning on weight basis. Cement bag weighting 50 kg shall be taken as 0.035 cubic metre. Other ingredients in specified proportion shall be measured using boxes of size 40 x 35 x 25 cm. Sand shall be measured on the basis of its dry volume in the case of volumetric proportioning.
Cement Mortar. All cement mortar shall consist of:- One (1) part cement One and one quarter (1 and 1/4) parts sand One and one quarter (1 and 1/4) parts screened bluestone dust. The materials shall be thoroughly mixed with a proper quantity of water, by a method and to a consistency approved by the Superintendent.
Cement Mortar. Cement mortar shall be composed of fine aggregate and cement in the proportions of 3 to1 by volume. The ingredients shall be thoroughly mixed while dry by machine or hand until the cement colour can no longer be distinguished from the fine aggregate in any part of the mass and then shall be uniformly wetted by means of hose while undergoing further thorough mixing. The mortar shall be prepared and used in quantities such that no longer than 30 minutes shall elapse between the first wetting and complete use of mortar in the Works and, if mixed by hand, no single batch shall exceed ¼ cubic meter.
Cement Mortar. Cement mortar shall have the proportion of cement to sand as mentioned in the item or in the special provisions and shall comply with following:
Cement Mortar. Proportion of mix: Cement and sand shall be mixed to specified proportion sand being measured boxes. The proportion of cement will be by volume on the basis of 50Kg/Bag of cement being equal to 0.0342 m3. .The mortar may be hand mixed or machine mixed as directed. Proportion of mortar: In hand mixed mortar cement and send in the specified proportion shall be thoroughly mixed dry on a clean impervious platform by tuning at least 3 times or more till a homogeneous mixture of uniform color is obtained. Mixing platform shall be so arranged that no deleterious extraneous material shall get mixed with mortar or mortar shall flow out. While mixing, the water shall be gradually added and thoroughly mixed to form a stiff plastic mass of uniform color so that each particle of sand be completely covered with a film of wet cement. The water cement ratio shall be adopted as directed.
Cement Mortar. Unless otherwise described, all brickwork shall be built in class ll cement mortar
