Classification and Wage Rates. Job classifications of the employees covered by this Agreement, and hourly wage rates for each of these classifications are indicated on the attached Appendix entitled "Hourly Wage Rates - Job Classification Chart". When an employee is required to work and assume the responsibility of a job in a classification that pays a higher rate than his assigned classification he shall be paid the higher rate for all hours worked in that higher classification. This provision does not apply during training. When any employee is demoted and is required to work and assume the responsibility of a job in a classification that pays a lower rate than his assigned classification, he shall be paid the lower rate for all hours worked in that lower classification. No employee may be demoted to a lower job classification or lower rate of pay due to circumstancesbeyond his control such as plant turnaround or temporary plant shutdown. In case of a unit down, or a crew being reduced, the employees will retain their base rate of pay for the first forty (40) working days of the employee concerned. The employee will be notifiedin writing at the commencementof this forty (40) working days maintenance of rate period. For employees assigned to work a twelve (12) hour shift schedule, in the event of a unit shutting down, the employee will retain his base rate of pay for the first eight working days of the employee concerned. The employee will be notified in writing at the commencement of this twenty-eight (28) working days maintenance of rate period. Maintenance of rates will not apply to individuals being recalled from layoff after thirty (30) calendar days. The wages due each employee shall be paid to him every second Thursday. If the regular payday falls on a holiday, the employee will be paid on the day preceding the holiday when practical to do so. All permanent employees' wages will be deposited into a financial institution of the employee's choice. Classification and Wage Rates. Job classifications (i) Classifications are as shown in Schedule A. Wage rates will be paid as per the attached wage grid in ‘Schedule A’. (ii) Schedule A is effective on the date shown and applicable to all active employees. (iii) Active employees are all employees employed on the Date of Ratification, including new hires, employees who have returned from a layoff for at least one (1) shift, and employees on an Employer approved leave of absence including medical and WCB. Classification and Wage Rates. Job 15.01 The classifications and wage rates which are in effect for the term of this Collective Agreement shall be as shown in Appendix "A". 15.02 It is agreed that the Company has the right to establish new job classifications during the life of this Collective Agreement and apply a wage rate for such classification.
