Living Away From Home Allowance. When Employees are to be engaged on a Project requiring them to live away from home, the provisions of Appendix I will apply in determining their entitlement and the conditions whilst they are living away from home.

Living Away From Home Allowance. 27.1 For the purpose of this Clause, a “distant project” is one where the location of the “on-site project work” is such that because of its distance or because of the travelling facilities available to and from the location, it is reasonably necessary for an employee to live and sleep at some place other than his/her usual place of residence. 27.2 It is not compulsory for employees to work at a distant project. 27.3 Where an employee is sent other than at his or her own request to work at a “distant project” as defined in sub-clause 27.1, the Employer may elect to: (a) Provide the employee with an agreed reasonable board and lodging in a well kept establishment with three adequate meals each day; or (b) Pay the employee an allowance as specified below per week of seven days but such allowance shall not be wages. In the case of broken parts of the week occurring, the Allowance as specified in the table below per day. Provided that this allowance will be increased if the employee satisfies the Employer that he reasonably incurred a greater outlay than that prescribed. With the consent of the Employer and not withstanding the above, the parties may enter into other arrangements by agreement which are superior than those contained in this Agreement prior to the commencement of the project. However, agreed pre-existing Employer arrangements where superior to those contained in this Agreement will still apply.

In addition, $8.35 shall be paid for each night the employee is required to be away from home.

Living Away From Home Allowance. A Distant Worker who is not provided with board and lodging by the Company will be paid a Living Away from Home Allowance in accordance with the table below. Living Away From Home Allowance. When a Fitter is required to Live Away From Home the employer will find suitable accommodation and pay for accommodation and meals or pay $100 per day. Living Away From Home Allowance. Any employee living away from home shall be paid an allowance of $110.00 per day ( our part therof ) as from the 1st August 2003 • $115.00 per day as from 1st August 2004 • $120.00 per day as from 1st August 2005 * or at the employees request single motel style accommodation with ensuite and all meals provided in lieu of the above rate plus $20.00 per day out of pocket expenses.
Living Away From Home Allowance. 43.9.1 Where an Employee is engaged on the Project and is required to travel a distance from their usual place of residence that is unreasonable to return each day, meets the ATO eligibility criteria and completes the required Employer declaration, the Employer will supply the provision of reasonable board and lodgings, at no cost to the Employee. 43.9.2 Reasonable board and lodging means, a minimum of three adequate meals per day, and a single room (not shared) which is quiet with air conditioning/heating, suitable ventilation, comfortable and clean bedding, appropriate lighting and furnishings, an ensuite with a toilet, shower and basin both with running hot and cold water, a television and tea and coffee making facilities. All facilities must be clean and fully functioning. 43.9.3 Where reasonable board and lodging are not available, the Employer and the Employee may agree to alternative arrangements, provided that the Employee is not placed in a financial disadvantage as a result of the alternative arrangement. 43.9.4 Where an Employee is eligible under this Clause, the Employer will pay the Employee, in addition to all other entitlements, a daily taxable allowance as detailed in the table of allowances. 43.9.5 An Employee may refuse to work in circumstances where the working would result in the Employee working hours which are unreasonable having regard to matters including: a) any risk to Employee health and safety including the risk of fatigue i.e. excessive hours, exposure to noise, fumes, or any matter that can impair an Employee’s ability to work safely and/or create a danger to Employees; b) the Employee’s personal circumstances including any family responsibilities; c) the needs of the workplace or enterprise; d) the notice (if any) given by the Employer, and by the Employee of his or her intention to refuse it; and e) any other relevant matter. 43.9.6 The living away from home allowance (per night) shall be paid at the rates provided for in the table of allowances.
