Climate and Cryosphere. (CliC) Project CliC was established as a core project of the WCRP in March 2000. CliC addresses the entire cryosphere (i.e., snow cover, sea-, lake- and river- ice, glaciers, ice sheets, ice caps and ice shelves, permafrost and frozen ground) and its relation to climate. A major part of CliC activity is naturally concentrated in the polar areas including the Antarctic. The Scientific Steering Group of CliC has the responsibility of formulating the overall scientific concepts and goals of the project, as well as organising the required international co-ordination of research efforts. The CliC International Project Office (CIPO) provides day-to-day planning and organisational support to the project. The CIPO director reports to the Director of the WCRP. The principal goal of CliC is: To assess and quantify the impacts that climatic variability and change have on components of the cryosphere and the consequences of these impacts for the climate system, and to determine the stability of the global cryosphere. In order to achieve this goal CliC has the supporting objectives to: • enhance the observation and monitoring of the cryosphere and the climate of cold regions in support of process studies, model evaluation, and detection of change; • improve understanding of the physical processes and feedbacks through which the cryosphere interacts within the climate system; • improve the representation of cryospheric processes in models to reduce uncertainties in simulations of climate and predictions of climate change; • facilitate assessment of changes in the cryosphere and their impact, and to use this information to aid the detection of climate change. CliC activities are organized along four major project areas comprising: • Terrestrial cryosphere and hydrometeorology of cold regions • Glaciers, ice caps and ice sheets, and their relation to sea level • High-latitude oceans and the marine cryosphere • Integrated interactions between the cryosphere and global climate CliC carries out its activities through working groups and panels, rapporteurs, and co-operation with partners.

  • Technology Access A. Contractor expressly acknowledges that state funds may not be expended in connection with the purchase of an automated information system unless that system meets certain statutory requirements relating to accessibility by persons with visual impairments. Accordingly, Contractor represents and warrants to System Agency that the technology provided to System Agency for purchase (if applicable under this Contract or any related Solicitation) is capable, either by virtue of features included within the technology or because it is readily adaptable by use with other technology, of:

  • Technology Upgrades Notwithstanding any other provision of this Agreement, Verizon shall have the right to deploy, upgrade, migrate and maintain its network at its discretion. The Parties acknowledge that Verizon, at its election, may deploy fiber throughout its network and that such fiber deployment may inhibit or facilitate PNG’s ability to provide service using certain technologies. Nothing in this Agreement shall limit Verizon's ability to modify its network through the incorporation of new equipment or software or otherwise. PNG shall be solely responsible for the cost and activities associated with accommodating such changes in its own network.

  • Climate Xxxxx Power Station is situated in a summer rainfall area with an average annual precipitation of about 750 mm falling almost entirely during the months of October to April. The average rainfall per month generally exceeds 40 mm during this period, although drought periods do occur which can last for 20 days or longer. Drought periods occur most frequently during the months of October/November and March/April. January is statistically the highest rainfall month with an average monthly rainfall of about 130 mm. June has the lowest rainfall with an average monthly rainfall of about 7 mm. Approximately 85% of the annual rainfall occurs in the summer months and heavy falls of 125 to 150 mm occasionally occur in a single day. The annual average number of thunderstorms is about 75. These storms are often violent with severe lightning and strong (but short-lived) gusty winds and are sometimes accompanied by hail. This region has among the highest hail frequencies in South Africa; about 4 to 7 occurrences (depending mainly on altitude) may be expected annually. January is normally the hottest month with an average daily maximum temperature of 27°C with a mean daily temperature in winter being about 16°C. Winter average daily temperatures vary from 18, 5°C maximum to -1°C minimum. The extreme temperatures recorded range from 34, 7°C to minus 12, 4°C for the period 1920 - 1984. Generally the prevailing wind directions are from the North West during the day and from the east at night. During daytime, the prevailing winds are from the north-western direction. During night-time, the prevailing winds are from the north-eastern direction. The highest recorded average wind speed is 17, 6 km/hour. The average wind velocity over the year is 14, 5 km/hour.

  • Research, Science and Technology Cooperation 1. The aims of cooperation in research, science and technology, carried out in the mutual interest of the Parties and in compliance with their policies, will be: (a) to build on existing agreements already in place for cooperation on research, science and technology; (b) to encourage, where appropriate, government agencies, research institutions, universities, private companies and other research organizations in the Parties to conclude direct arrangements in support of cooperative activities, programs or projects within the framework of this Agreement, specially related to trade and commerce; and (c) to focus cooperative activities towards sectors where mutual and complementary interests exist, with special emphasis on information and communication technologies and software development to facilitate trade between the Parties. 2. The Parties will encourage and facilitate, as appropriate, the following activities including, but not limited to:

  • Infrastructure Vulnerability Scanning Supplier will scan its internal environments (e.g., servers, network devices, etc.) related to Deliverables monthly and external environments related to Deliverables weekly. Supplier will have a defined process to address any findings but will ensure that any high-risk vulnerabilities are addressed within 30 days.

  • Online Services Microsoft warrants that each Online Service will perform in accordance with the applicable SLA during Customer’s use. Customer’s remedies for breach of this warranty are in the SLA. The remedies above are Customer’s sole remedies for breach of the warranties in this section. Customer waives any breach of warranty claims not made during the warranty period.
