Codebook Structure. For most variables on the Emergency Room Visits event file, both weighted and unweighted frequencies are provided in the accompanying codebook. The exceptions to this are weight variables and variance estimation variables. Only unweighted frequencies of these variables are included in the accompanying codebook file. See the Weights Variables list in section D, Variable-Source Crosswalk. The codebook and data file sequence list variables in the following order: Unique person identifiers Unique emergency room event identifiers Emergency room characteristic variables Clinical Classification Software (CCS) codes Imputed expenditure variables Weight and variance estimation variables Note that the person identifier is unique within this data year.
