Common use of Continuation of Medical Insurance Clause in Contracts

Continuation of Medical Insurance. The Town will continue medical insurance coverage for the employee in accordance with the provisions of the Town’s Family and Medical Leave Policy. Thereafter, an employee who is receiving short term disability payments under this plan AND is continuing to draw on accrued sick leave credits, will continue to receive medical insurance benefits and the Town will continue to make its contributions for up to a maximum of one year provided the employee makes the required employee contribution. If the employee has exhausted all sick leave credits, the employee may continue to be eligible for medical insurance coverage in accordance with COBRA. For those employees enrolled in the New York State Health Insurance Program (Empire Plan), the premium may be waived in accordance with plan documents.
