Core terms and conditions. 4.1 Hours of work Employees covered by this Agreement are expected to work the hours necessary to carry out their duties and meet the responsibilities of their position. While the standard hours of work for a full time employee are 40 hours per week, employees are employed on the basis that it may be necessary for them to work additional hours. However it is not the Ministry’s expectation that employees will be required to work excessive hours for prolonged periods. Employees are expected to take reasonable rest and meal breaks during normal working hours. The timing of these breaks should take into account the needs of the Ministry, other employees and the requirements for employee health and safety.
