Common use of Deduction of Sick Leave Clause in Contracts

Deduction of Sick Leave. Absence for an accounted illness for less than half (½) a day shall not be deducted. Absence for half (½) a day or more and less than a full day shall be deducted as one- half (½) day. This provision is to be pro-rated for part-time employees. The employee will make every reasonable effort to schedule a medical appointment outside of their normal working hours. When this is not possible, time taken from previously scheduled work for medical appointments will be deducted from sick leave credits.
