Definitions of Shift. (1) The parties to this Agreement agree that the definitions ofafternoon shift”, “day shift” and “night shiftin clause 6.6.2 of the Employees of Queensland Government Departments (Other than Public Servants) Award – State 2012 will apply for the purposes of clause 6.5 (Shift work) of the Queensland Public Service Award – State 2012. (2) The parties to this Agreement acknowledge that this initiative will provide greater flexibility for agencies in relation to implementation of shift work. (3) The parties to this Agreement agree that a consent amendment will be made to the Queensland Public Service Award – State 2012 to incorporate the relevant shift definitions from the Employees of Queensland Government Departments (Other than Public Servants) Award – State 2012.

Should a majority of employees (70%) on a set scheduled shift propose to change their shift times, the Company and the Union will meet to discuss the proposal. The Company will not unreasonably deny the requested shift change. In the event of failure to reach mutual agreement, the Company will declare the shift times and the Union’s right to grieve for alteration is recognized A shift shall be considered as worked on the calendar day on which it begins. A shift that begins at 12 midnight shall be considered as a night shift of the day before.
