A Shift definition

A Shift is a portion of the day scheduled as a day’s work defined by ordinary hours for either day, afternoon or night shift as provided for in Clause 9 of this Agreement.
A Shift refers to the work shift from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. “B Shift” refers to the work shift from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.
A Shift means the working hours from 0700 to 1600 hours (including one (1) hour of meal time) everyday from Mondays to Sundays including a General Holiday; “A1 Shift”

Examples of A Shift in a sentence

  • A Shift is the scheduled period of work during the twenty-four (24) hour work day.

  • A Shift Manager is on duty 24 hours a day and is the Shift Emergency Director in a declared emergency until relieved of this function.

  • A Shift Premium of $0,30 per hour shall be paid for hours of work between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. A Premium of $0,35 per hour shall be paid for hours of work on Saturday and Sunday (Shift Premium will also apply in case of Saturday and Sunday shift between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.).

  • A Shift Worker is entitled to a crib break of 30 minutes' duration without loss of pay.

  • Example: A Shift that starts on Friday is straight time to completion of that shift.

  • A Shift Commander reviews the report and makes a recommendation for follow up investigation if deemed necessary.

  • Each candidate must participate in a minimum of five (5) ride-alongs in at least three (3) separate districts, to include one (1) ride along during A Shift and three (3) ride-alongs during C shift.

  • A Shift Differential shall not be added to any unscheduled overtime hours worked, nor shall it apply to hours paid but not worked.

  • A) Shift employees shall be entitled to two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest periods in each eight (8) hour shift and three (3) fifteen (15) minute rest periods in each twelve (12) hour shift.

More Definitions of A Shift

A Shift. (“sm na”) shall mean the part of weekly working time [section 83a(5)], excluding overtime, when an employee is engaged in work for his employer according to a predetermined pattern (schedule) of work shifts during a period of 24 consecutive hours.

  • Day Shift means a shift which commences at or after 6.00 am and before 10.00 am. "Afternoon shift" means a shift which commences at or after 10.00 am and before 4.00 pm.

  • Afternoon shift means any shift finishing after 6.00 p.m. and at or before midnight.

  • Shift means a daily tour of duty exclusive of overtime hours.

  • Split shift means a work schedule, which is interrupted by non-paid non-working periods established by the employer, other than bona fide rest or meal periods.

  • Rostered Shift means any shift of which the employee concerned has had at least 48 hours notice.

  • Night Shift means a shift which commences at or after 4.00 pm and before 6.00 am on the day following.

  • Working Day means a day (other than a Saturday or Sunday) on which banks are open for business in the City of London.

  • Workweek means any week during which a Class Member worked for Defendant for at least one day, during the Class Period.

  • Paid sick leave – means paid leave under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act.

  • Weekday means Monday – Friday.

  • Work week means a seven (7) consecutive day week that consistently begins and ends on the same days throughout the year; i.e. Sunday through Saturday, Wednesday through Tuesday, Friday through Thursday.

  • Classroom hour means 50 minutes of instruction out of

  • Non-working Day means any day upon which an employee, pursuant to the terms of the contract of employment, is not available to the employer for the purposes of rostering the ordinary hours of work.

  • Occupation Date means the Completion Date or the date on which the Local Authority issues the Occupancy Certificate or the date that the Purchaser attends the Hand-over Inspection, whichever is the earlier;

  • Unscheduled Holiday means a day that is not a Settlement Business Day and the market was not aware of such fact (by means of a public announcement or by reference to other publicly available information) until a time later than 9:00 a.m. local time in the principal financial centre of the Specified Currency two Settlement Business Days prior to the relevant Rate Fixing Date. As soon as the Calculation Agent is aware of such an Unscheduled Holiday, they shall inform the Issuer promptly.

  • New York City Banking Day means any day on which commercial banks are open for general business (including dealings in foreign exchange and foreign currency deposits) in New York City;

  • Working Days means any day other than a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday in England and Wales; and
