Common use of DESIGNATED PUBLIC HOLIDAYS Clause in Contracts

DESIGNATED PUBLIC HOLIDAYS. Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Easter Monday, Good Friday, Independence Day, Labour Day, Emancipation Day, Whit Monday, etc. 10.1 Employees shall be paid at the normal rate for eight (8) hours in respect of the gazetted and proclaimed public holidays provided such holidays fall on a normal working day. 10.2 In order to qualify for payment, it is required that the employees shall have worked on the working day preceding and following the holiday. 10.3 An employee who has not turned out to work on the day following a designated public holiday, will be required to comply with the procedure outlined in Article 15.1, failing which he/she shall not be entitled to payment for that holiday.
