Discipline of Permanent Status Employees. (A) An employee who has attained permanent status in his current position may be disciplined only for cause as provided in section 110.227, F.S. Reductions in base pay, demotions, involuntary transfers of more than 50 miles by highway, suspensions, and dismissals may be effected by the state at any time against any employee. Demotion will not be used as a form of disciplinary action for employees in the classes of Correctional Officer, Correctional Probation Officer, Correctional Probation Officer-Institution, or Institutional Security Specialist I.
