Common use of Early Relief Clause in Contracts

Early Relief. 8.17.1 Early relief (two hours or less) may occur pursuant to employee agreement; either expressed or implied and is unknown to the department. This practice will not have the effect of increasing the number of compensable hours of work where it is voluntary on the part of the employees. 8.17.2 If the practice of early relief is required by the department, the time involved must be added to the employee's tour of duty and treated as compensable time.
