Education Advancement Leave. Any teacher may receive up to one (1) year's leave without pay for purposes of continuing education. The teacher must submit an application, a program of study, approved acceptance documents from the university of the teacher's choice, and a written statement from the teacher demonstrating the positive contributions that may be provided the school system upon completion of the leave. In the event the Board is notified in advance that the program of study is a two-year program, the Board shall, at the request of the teacher, extend the leave for one year; all other requests for extensions shall be granted at the discretion of the Board.
