Leaves of Absence - General. 1. Upon written request of an employee, the Board of Education may grant a leave of absence for a period of not more than two (2) consecutive school years for educational or professional or other purposes, and shall grant such leave where illness or other disability is the reason for the request. Upon subsequent request, such leave may be renewed by the Board. Without request, the Board may grant similar leave of absence and renewals thereof to any regular school employee because of physical or mental disability, but such school employee may have a hearing on such non-requested leave of absence or its renewals in accordance with division (C) of Section 3319.081 of the Revised Code. Upon the return to service of a school employee at the expiration of leave of absence, he shall resume the contract status which he held prior to such leave. 2. Upon return of a school employee from a leave of absence, the board may terminate the employment of a person hired exclusively for the purpose of replacing the employee while he/she was on leave (“replacement”). If, after the return of an employee from leave, the replacement is continued in employment as a regular school employee or if he/she is hired by the board as a regular school employee within a year after his/her employment as a replacement is terminated, he/she shall, for purposes of Section 3319.081 of the Revised Code, receive credit for his/her length of service with the school district during such replacement period in the following manner: a. If employed as a replacement for less than twelve (12) months, he/she shall be employed under a contract valid for a period equal to twelve (12) months less the number of months employed as a replacement. At the end of such contract period, if the person is re-employed, it shall be under a two (2) year contract. Subsequent re-employment shall be pursuant to division (B) of Section 3319.081 the Revised Code. b. If employed as a replacement for twelve (12) months or more but less than twenty- four (24) months, he/she shall be employed under a contract valid for a period equal to twenty-four (24) months, less the number of months employed as a replacement. Subsequent re-employment shall be pursuant to division (B) Section 3319.081 of the Revised Code. c. Leaves of Absence - General. 8.1.1 Leaves of absence are authorized time away from work and may be with or without pay. A unit member who is absent from work other than for those periods as authorized by the leave provisions of this Agreement is taking an unauthorized absence in violation of this Agreement. Any unit member who is absent from work without authorized leave, or who fails to return to work as scheduled, shall be subject to disciplinary action, which may include a deduction of salary equal to the ratio of days absent. 8.1.2 Unit members are required to request all leaves of absence except sick leave, industrial accident or illness leave, or bereavement leave. All requests must receive a response from the supervisor within a timely manner. Except in emergencies, leaves of absence may not commence prior to approval. 8.1.3 For those absences not requiring prior approval, unit members must notify the site administrator or named site designee of their need to be absent prior to the start of their normal reporting time or their leave compensation will be withheld. 8.1.3.1 Night Custodians, Food Service staff, and transportation personnel must contact their supervisor at least one (1) hour prior to their normal reporting time. 8.1.4 A unit member on sick leave and/or personal necessity leave shall not be gainfully employed by any other employer. 8.1.5 A unit member who fails to return to work at the expiration of approved leave, without notice to the District, shall be deemed absent without leave and may be subject to disciplinary action. 8.1.6 Members of the immediate family shall mean the mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, or grandchild of the unit member, or of the spouse/domestic partner of the unit member, and the spouse/domestic partner, son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, step-mother, step- father, step-son, step-daughter, step-brother or step-sister of the unit member, or any relative living in the immediate household of the unit member. 8.1.7 Leave statements are available through the employee on-line portal.
Leaves of Absence - General. An employee in a Trainee, Apprentice, Learner, Intern or Status appointment is eligible for all types of approved absences. An employee with a Temporary appointment is eligible only for Excused Absences; an employee with a Provisional appointment is eligible only for absences classified as Excused Absence, Jury Duty, or Funeral Leave.
Leaves of Absence - General. Leaves of absence with pay, and in some instances without pay, will be specified by the President of the University. Such leaves of absence may be granted to eligible employees, as defined by the President, who also shall issue rules for the administration of approved leaves. Leaves of absence with pay will be subject to completion of an initial six (6) months of pay status service. The President may issue rules providing for types of Excused Absences of employees with or without pay and for extensions of leaves as the President determines to be in the interest of the University. Exceptions may be granted, if good cause shown, provided that the cost of any such leave will be taken from salary or wages due the employee if his/her employment is terminated before the completion of six (6) months of service. In leaves of absence without pay, leave may be charged, at the employee's request, to his/her Vacation and Personal Leave up to the amount accumulated at the beginning of the leave to extend the employees regular percent time appointment. The University will withhold from salary or wages due an employee its cost for any paid leave days other than earned Vacation or Sick Leave if employment is terminated or leave for services in the Armed Forces of the United States or Special Leave is approved before the employee completes six (6) months of service.
Leaves of Absence - General. 22.01 All leaves of absence shall be granted without pay and without loss of seniority. 22.02 All leaves of absence exceeding one (1) month shall be granted without pay and benefits and without loss of seniority. 22.03 All requests for leaves of absence shall be made in writing and shall indicate the reason for the request and the anticipated dates of departure and return. 22.04 All requests for leaves of absence exceeding one (1) week (excluding maternity, adoption, bereavement or emergency leave) shall be submitted to the Employer, in writing, at least two (2) weeks in advance of the anticipated absence. 22.05 Employees shall be required to use their accrued vacation entitlement prior to being granted a leave of absence in excess of two (2) weeks. 22.06 The Employer may refuse any request for a leave of absence if the Employer determines that the Employee cannot be spared. 22.07 Requests for leaves of absence exceeding three (3) months (excluding maternity, adoption, bereavement or emergency leave) shall not be granted, except where extenuating circumstances explained in writing by the Employee may be considered, at the Employer's discretion. 22.08 Failure to report for duty immediately following the expiration of a leave of absence or time off, shall be deemed to be a voluntary separation by the Employee from her employment unless the Employee provides the Employer with a satisfactory explanation by telephone, fax or telegram. 22.09 Employees on a leave of absence shall not engage in any gainful employment with another employer. Any Employee who engages in such employment shall be terminated immediately. 22.10 Employees on a leave of absence shall not be entitled to Named Holidays with pay which may fall during the period of such leave of absence or time off.
Leaves of Absence - General. 6.1.1: All leaves of absence, except those that are mandatory, are granted at the discretion of the Board of Trustees. Requests shall be submitted in writing to the Human Resources Division giving specific dates and reasons. In general, the unit member’s principal or immediate supervisor shall recommend approval or disapproval of all leaves of absence prior to submission to the Human Resources Division. All requests shall be on appropriate forms. 6.1.2: No leave of absence approved by the Board of Trustees (by way of illustration and not limitation, this includes sick leave [section 6.2], personal necessity [section 6.6], pregnancy disability leave [section 6.11.1], workers comp, child rearing [section 6.12], etc.) shall constitute an interruption in the continuity of service for the purpose of: ● qualifying the unit member for permanent classification; ● advancement on the salary schedule. Provided, however, the unit member must actually render service to the District on not less than seventy-five percent (75%) of the teaching days of each school year in order to receive credit for the year. 0.0.0.0: Except as noted in 6.1.2.2 below, the time span during which the leave of absence is taken shall not be computed in determining the amount of service rendered. 0.0.0.0: If a unit member renders paid service for at least fifty percent (50%) but less than seventy-five (75%) of the days in a given work year, any absence for personal injury or illness (including pregnancy) that qualifies for leave under the Family Medical Leave Act and/or California Family Rights Act (CFRA) shall be accumulated with the fifty percent (50%) of service and, if the total equals seventy-five percent (75%) or more, it shall constitute a year’s service.

Leaves of Absence - General. A. All teaching employees of the Linden Community Schools will be at their stations every day for which they are paid, except as provided in the following paragraphs. B. It is the teacher’s responsibility to notify the automated sub calling system to be eligible for “absence without loss of salary” and the reason for absence. If this procedure is not followed, deductions from salary could be automatically made. Except in cases of emergency, teachers shall notify the automated sub calling system before 7:00 a.m. to request a substitute when they are absent. Secondary teachers should make every effort to call prior to 6:00 a. m. One number (the same number) shall be provided for all teachers of the system in case of absence.
