Common use of Education/Convention Clause in Contracts

Education/Convention. Subject to the approval of the employment supervisor and the Associate Vice-President of Human Resources and upon written request at least five (5) working days in advance, leave of absence without pay may be granted to employees elected or appointed by the Union to attend conventions and conferences and educational seminars of the Union. No more than three (3) employees may be absent at any one time and such leaves without pay shall not total more than fifteen (15) person-days in any contract year.
