Educational Assistance & Professional Development Assistance. ‌ Expenses as outlined in this section are separate from job-related assistance provided by or paid directly by the District. All benefits provided under this section are subject to applicable provisions of federal and/or state law, and all applicable District policies and procedures, as approved by the Board of Directors. Only those reimbursements which are directly related to or required for an employee’s current job classification are non-taxable, as defined by federal and/or state law and can be excluded from taxable wages. To be excluded from taxable wages, the educational or professional development course: • Must be job-related and either necessary to maintain or improve current job skills. It must be directly related to the employees’ current job classification. • Cannot be used to meet the minimum educational requirements of the current job classification or would otherwise qualify the employee for a new job outside of their current job classification. • Cannot be taken to acquire a license or special certification, in preparation for a new job classification. Educational or professional development expenses that do not meet the criteria listed above are not eligible for reimbursement. Educational assistance and professional development assistance combined allowance shall not exceed four hundred fifty dollars ($450) per calendar year; at the employee’s option, employees may combine the 2018 and 2019 allowance for a total of nine hundred dollars ($900). Employees will be allowed to combine the allowance in subsequent two-year increments (e.g. 2020/2021). Employees who have chosen to combine the allowance may be reimbursed for up to maximum amount available, or $900.00, whichever is less.

  • EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The District’s Educational Assistance Program will be continued during the life of this Agreement. Employees who wish to enroll in job-related and promotion oriented courses, which will improve their job knowledge, and performance will be compensated by the District for expenses as follows:

  • Educational Assistance To qualify for reimbursement, an employee must be a regular employee upon enrollment. To be approved, the courses described below must be related to the employee's present position or career development:

  • Educational Assistance Plan The state shall provide up to six credit hours of tuition-free courses per term at a state university or community college to full-time employees on a space available basis as authorized by law.

  • Education Assistance The lay-off may be eligible to apply for this option if:

  • Educational Assistants Teachers are responsible to assign instructional duties to Educational Assistants who are allocated to students in their classroom by the Principal.

  • Professional Development Plan Professional Development Plan (PDP) refers to plans developed by faculty members addressing the criteria contained in Article 22 and Appendix G.

  • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members.

  • Professional Development Reimbursement Management will provide reimbursement for approved professional development expenses for Lieutenants and Sergeants. Funds may be used for the purpose of improving job performance, maintaining and increasing proficiency, preparing Lieutenants and Sergeants for greater responsibility, or increasing promotional opportunities. Management must approve of the specific professional development request in advance. Denial will require written notification to the requesting Lieutenant or Sergeant.

  • Technical Assistance The State agrees to provide technical assistance regarding the State’s rules, regulations and policies to the Sub- Recipient and to assist in the correction of problem areas identified by the State’s monitoring activities.

  • Professional Development 9.01 Continuous professional development is a hallmark of professional nursing practice. As a self-regulating profession, nursing recognizes the importance of maintaining a dynamic practice environment which includes ongoing learning, the maintenance of competence, career development, career counselling and succession planning. The parties agree that professional development includes a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to formal academic programs; short-term continuing education activities; certification programs; independent learning committee participation. The parties recognize their joint responsibility in and commitment to active participation in the area of professional development.
