Employment Date and Anniversary Date. Whenever any unit member is appointed and begins working in a position on or before the fifteenth (15th) day of the month, the unit member’s initial employment date shall be the first day of that month during which the unit member was employed as a unit member. If the employment commences on or after the sixteenth (16th) day of the month, the unit member’s initial employment date shall be the first of the month following the date of the unit member’s employment. A unit member's anniversary date is the date upon which a unit member is granted an earned salary increment. This is the first day of the pay period following the successful completion of the established probationary period. The employment date affects salary. However, the anniversary date is changed when a unit member is promoted.
