Engineering and Design Philosophy. The engineering philosophy is to ensure the optimal performance and maintenance of the Works. In order to achieve these, envelops within which the Works must perform are defined and reviewed. The engineering function is to ensure adherence to these envelops, to resolve problems associated with the operation and maintenance of the Works and upgrade or modify Works design where applicable. These objectives are to be realised not only in the short term, but also to meet the requirements for long term health of the Works. The Works is to be designed to cost effectively improve safety, reliability, production, operation, minimise maintenance, training and life cycle costs, by means of appropriate engineering of: • standardisation of components and plant with inter-changeability of equipment as a focus point; • reduction of interfaces type (standardisation); • advanced control concepts; • correct man-machine interfaces; and • effortless diagnostics. The Contractor to populate and update the switchgear load schedules as per design and submit to Employer for acceptance. The Design Development Documents shall illustrate and describe the development of the approved Schematic Design Documents and shall consist of drawings and other documents including plans, sections, elevations, typical construction details, and diagrammatic layouts of building systems to fix and describe the size and character of the Project as to architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical systems, and other appropriate elements. The Design Development Documents shall also include outline specifications that identify major materials and systems and establish, in general, their quality levels.

  • Engineering Forest Service completed survey and design for Specified Roads prior to timber sale advertisement, unless otherwise shown in A8 or Purchaser survey and design are specified in A7. On those roads for which Forest Service completes the design during the contract, the design quantities shall be used as the basis for revising estimated costs stated in the Schedule of Items and adjusting Timber Sale Account. Forest Service engineering shall be completed according to the schedule in A8. Should Forest Service be unable to perform the designated survey and design by the completion date or other agreed to time, upon written agreement, Purchaser shall assume responsibility for such work.
