Common use of Examination Time Clause in Contracts

Examination Time. Employees in regular positions shall be entitled to a reasonable amount of leave with pay for the purpose of applying for and taking District promotional examinations. Employees are responsible for notifying and obtaining approval from their immediate supervisor prior to taking such leave. Examination time shall not be charged against accumulated leave balances and shall be compensated at the employee’s base hourly rate of pay. Employees must report to work before and after examination time provided there is an opportunity for at least one (1) hour of actual work time. The employee will not be required to return to work if more than one (1) hour remains after Examination Time and the employee has received prior approval from the appointing authority or designee to use appropriate leave from the employee’s accrued “leave bank.”
