Extended Maternity/Parental Leave. a. A teacher granted maternity or parental leave under this Article may also apply for extended maternity/parental leave for an additional period of up to one (1) year to coincide with the commencement of a term or semester, or the following Christmas or spring break. b. Application for extended maternity/parental leave shall be made no later than four (4) weeks prior to the commencement of a term or semester, or by May 31 in respect of leave commencing September 1 following.
