Producers ▌ shall have extended producer responsibility under the schemes established in accordance with Articles 8 and 8a of Directive 2008/98/EC and with this Section for the packaging or packaged product that they make available ▌ for the first time on the market of a Member State.

Extended Producer Responsibility. Both provinces will continue working towards a zero- waste society by exploring ways to reconcile waste management approaches for batteries, mercury lamps, televisions, computers, printers, phones, cameras and audio-visual equipment. Regional solutions and responses will be developed in both provinces to address common challenges facing the agriculture and food processing sectors through an ongoing bilateral cooperative mechanism involving government and industry. Initiatives that Ontario and Quebec will consider undertaking include: ◆ Developing regional strategies to help the troubled livestock and food processing sectors; ◆ Collaborating to attract investment interest in the region’s agri-food and innovation sectors; and ◆ Harmonizing standards including those affecting yogurt compositions.
