Common use of FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act Clause in Contracts

FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act. Administrators or professional staff members are entitled to leave to the extent provided in the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and its associated regulations. For purposes of this Section, “12-month period” is defined as the “12-month period measured forward from the date the employee’s first FMLA leave begins” (i.e. the leave year is specific to each employee). The member is entitled to twelve (12) weeks of leave during the 12-month period beginning on the first date FMLA leave is taken. The next 12-month period commences the first time FMLA leave is taken after the completion of any previous 12-month period.
