Graphical Representation of EOHHS Environment. As illustrated in Table 1, all Information Systems in the EOHHS Environment are connected, either directly or through other Information Systems which share data downstream. Few systems in the EOHHS Environment are truly independent of that environment. To the extent those applications are used to support Agency operations alongside other applications and their data can impact Agency operations, they are not independent. Additionally, very little—if any—physically held data (e.g.: paper documents, filing cabinets holding documents, etc.) maintained in the EOHHS Environment exists independently of EOHHS’s Information Systems. Those physical data stores either come from Information Systems or are used to populate information into Information Systems. As such, all physical instances of data—or physical instances of information— maintained in the EOHHS Environment or by a third party fall within the purview of these Information Security standards.
