GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR LEAVE. The purpose of this Article is to outline the array of leave provisions available to support the diverse needs of the employee group, recognizing that the employee is one of the institution’s greatest assets. The District acknowledges the value of the employee’s time, both at work and away from work, and recognizes that leave for self and family helps achieve the highest level of employee performance. The leave provisions set forth in this Article shall be applied in a reasonable, consistent, and fair manner, acknowledging the importance of “work-life” balance for all employees. While on paid leave, employees will not lose seniority. Further, these leave provisions must comply with Education Code and/or other state or federal regulations.
