Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance. Employees granted a leave of absence without pay shall be entitled to maintain any Health/Dental/Vision or Life Insurance program in effect; provided that the cost of all such insurance shall be borne solely by the employee. Exception: in the case of an employee on non-paid leave of absence caused by a job-related injury or illness, the County will continue to pay the County’s portion of the insurance premiums if, at the time the employee went out on worker’s compensation, s/he had a sick leave balance of 192 hours or more. The employee will be exempt from the accrual requirement if s/he can demonstrate s/he would have had the 192 hours had it not been for a serious injury or illness requiring the use of sick leave in excess of 4 weeks (160 hours) at one time.
