Common use of Illness of Immediate Family Clause in Contracts

Illness of Immediate Family. In case of serious illness or serious injury of a member of the employee's immediate family a maximum of a total of five (5) working days absence annually, with full pay, may be granted. The immediate family shall be construed to mean father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, family partner, son, daughter, grandparent, grandchild, comparable in-laws and step-parents/children. These absences shall not be charged against sick leave nor shall the leave be cumulative.
