Increases and Benefits Determination. Any employee on leave without pay to devote full or part-time service to a Union signatory to this Agreement shall be credited with step increases as if the employee had been in a pay status. Retirement benefits will accrue on the basis of the employee's step so attained, provided the employee makes contributions to the retirement fund in accordance with procedure. Annual and sick leave will be earned in accordance with existing procedures based on hours worked.
