Influence of Geometry Sample Clauses

Influence of Geometry. Especially for a fuel power of 10 MWth, depicted in Figure 18, it can be recognized that the solid distri- bution is influenced by the FR designs. The biggest differences occur between NGI and ULS inlet. The Benchmark FR design shows a relative evenly distribution of solids between NGI and ULS inlet. In con- trast, the LP1 FR design and LP2 FR design show high shares of solids directly above the NGI followed by significantly lower shares. The LP2 FR design with internal shows high solid shares directly above the NGI and the internal, but in between a low share of solids. All FR designs show small shares of solids above the ULS inlet compared to the lower part of the reactor. Further, a similar share of solids is situated above the NGI for all FR designs. For the LP1 and LP2 FR design the solid distribution does only slightly change by variation of the fuel power. It seems this is caused by the increased cross sectional area in the lower part of the FR so that for both fuel powers solids are not able to distribute between NGI and ULS inlet. In contrast, for the Benchmark FR design and the LP2 FR design with internal, variation in the fuel power shows a significant influence. For the LP2 FR design with internal this can be explained by the reduced influence of the internal with the fuel power, while for the Benchmark FR design due to with fuel power also reduced gas velocity, solids are now not able to distribute properly between NGI and ULS inlet. While for the FR designs without internal the share of solids in the upper part of the FR mainly depends on the fuel power and the inventory of the FR (invFR), for the FR design with internal the global solids circulation has to be added to the influencing parameters. Thereby the influence of the internal on the solid distribution depends on a combination of global solids circulation and gas veloc...
