INSTRUCTIONAL INITIATIVES. In implementing instructional initiatives, consideration shall be given to: staff talents and interests instructional goals of each site student population space limitations the level of professional development of the staff member Then, in developing site‐based staffing plans, input shall be collected from all staff regarding the above criteria. All staff will develop, review and discuss possible staffing plans and will reach consensus on the final plan. The Board, while reserving the right to employ and make assignments at its discretion, recognizes the importance of not making unreasonable demands in regard to assignments outside of areas of an employee’s professional and personal competence or training. Finally, the Board, Administration and staff will continue to assess every program with relation to its indicators of success. These assessments need to include input from parents, staff, students and Administration. The Board recognizes the relationship of class size to student success. The Board will strive to achieve class size of twenty‐eight (28) students per class and twenty (20) students per early childhood class. This clause is not subject to the grievance procedure. When necessary, the District Leadership Team (DLT) will discuss ways to quantify the needs of each student and determine the best class size and balance with appropriate staff.
