Instructional Materials. A. The Board recognizes that appropriate texts, library reference facilities, maps and globes, laboratory equipment, audio-visual equipment, art supplies, athletic equipment, current periodicals, standard tests and questionnaires, computers, and similar materials are the tools of the teaching profession. B. Efforts shall be continued to seek and use instructional materials which reflect the contribution and presence of diverse ethnic and cultural groups. C. 1. Selection of instructional materials for each school shall be made by a committee of teachers chosen by the faculty within that school.

The administration and the teachers will confer from time to time for the purpose of improving the selection and use of such educational tools, and the Board undertakes promptly to consider all joint decisions thereon made by its representative and the Association.
Instructional Materials. 15.1 Within budgetary limitations, the Board will endeavor to provide sufficient instructional materials, equipment, and facilities to ensure that each pupil and teacher will have the best possible access to them. 15.2 Curriculum committees which are established by the Department of Learning Services shall provide recommendations, including dissenting opinion reports, if any, to the Superintendent concerning appropriate instructional materials for use in the District’s curriculum.
Instructional Materials. The District shall determine the need and provide to each employee instructional materials including technology and consumables appropriate for the number of students for each course the employee teaches. No employee shall be charged with the duty of providing their own curriculum. All instructional materials are the property of the Sarasota County School Board and will be retrieved and accounted for at the end of each term. Monies due for lost or damaged text books should be collected from students in the same manner as other instructional materials used in regular programs.
Instructional Materials. 12-1 In order to provide the best possible educational program in each school, the District will endeavor to provide sufficient instructional materials and equipment to ensure that each pupil and teacher, including ELA-S teachers and special education teachers, will have access to them. The final building budgets will reflect the priorities established by the CSC. 12-1 2 Each school will be allocated a revolving fund through their budget accounts to use for the purpose of instructional materials that are not otherwise readily obtainable by teachers. 12-2 The Association and the District support equal educational opportunity for all children in the Denver Public Schools. It is their mutual aim, through the careful selection of multi- ethnic instructional materials, to help students develop a sense of individual worth and respect for the worth of others, regardless of their ethnic or cultural backgrounds. 12-3 When the District convenes committees to review and adopt curriculum, teachers will always be part of the process. Additionally, the Association shall have the right to appoint one member to serve on District curriculum committees. The appointee must have expertise in the stated curriculum area.

The Employer recognizes that adequate numbers of appropriate texts, library reference facilities, maps and globes, laboratory equipment, audiovisual equipment, art supplies athletic equipment, current periodicals, standard tests and questionnaires and similar materials are the tools of the teaching profession. The Employer further recognizes that specialized programs require special materials in order to be effective. The parties will confer from time to time for the purpose of improving the selection and use of such educational tools, and the Employer will undertake promptly to implement all joint decisions thereon made by its representative and the Association. The employer agrees at all times to keep the schools reasonably equipped and maintained to the best of its financial ability. B. Instructional materials used in the school district shall reflect the dignity and worth of all human beings. 1. All materials adopted by the School District shall reflect the multi-ethnic nature of our society and sensitivity to prejudice or stereotype. 2. In evaluating instructional materials, the Employer and curriculum committee shall include the following criteria: a) Does the material provide opportunities for full, fair and accurate treatment of minorities and woman? b) Does the material portray minorities and woman in positions of leadership and roles of dignity? c) Are fully integrated human groupings and setting reflecting equal status portrayed? d) Are illustrations of minorities ethically authentic? e) Does the material reflect the contributions and achievements of minorities and woman in Art, Science, History, Literature, and all life and culture? C. The Employer and the Association mutually recognize the importance of continuous use of adequate teaching reference material in maintaining high level of professional performance. In furtherance of that recognition, the Employer shall provide a member reference library in each school in the district and include therein all texts which are reasonably requested by the employees of that school, to the best of its financial ability. D. Whenever possible, there shall be a functioning, staffed library in each school to supplement and complement the required curriculum.

The School District will provide all required course materials, including textbooks, syllabi, course packets, and other materials needed for enrollment to classes for high school graduation credit and college-level texts. b. Course agreements for the identified courses during the Summer Opportunity must be current and on file. The Course Agreement Form includes the Instructional Materials (IM) required for each course.

The Board recognizes that appropriate tests, library reference materials, maps, globes, laboratory equipment, audiovisual equipment, art supplies, physical education equipment, current periodicals, standard tests and questionnaires, and similar materials are the tools of the teaching profession. When new materials are needed, the Board agrees to continue to provide such tools and to continue the practice of cooperatively selecting these tools.
