Common use of Investigation of Sick Leave Clause in Contracts

Investigation of Sick Leave. The Employer reserves the right to investigate any reported illness of an employee. If after investigation the Employer feels that there may be abuse of sick leave or if the illness is in excess of three (3) consecutive working days, the employee may be required to submit proof of illness from a medical practitioner. A medical practitioner shall include but not limited to a family doctor, specialist, physiotherapist, chiropractor or dentist with expertise in the relevant field. Proof of illness, if required, shall be asked for during the illness.
