Common use of Itinerant Teachers Clause in Contracts

Itinerant Teachers. 1. Teachers who are required to use their own automobiles and are assigned to more than one school per day will be reimbursed for all required travel, excluding commuter miles to and from work, following Board Policy DKC. Reimbursement will occur at the end of each semester. 2. Itinerant teachers will be guaranteed a minimum of one regularly scheduled class period per day for the purpose of individual planning and preparation and a minimum of 25 minutes of duty-free lunch time daily. Employees who must travel during the school day shall be given sufficient travel time, and travel time between buildings and set up and breakdown time associated with travel shall not be considered part of an itinerant teacher’s planning or lunch time. 3. Expectations for all additional responsibilities performed by teachers in the itinerant teacher’s assigned buildings, including but not limited to duties, supervision, conferences, open houses, and meetings, shall not exceed a prorated share of the typical responsibilities in each building. 4. Elementary itinerant teachers will be guaranteed a minimum of 60 consecutive minutes per day, with any variation to be approved between the principal and the teacher. Secondary itinerant teachers will be guaranteed a minimum of one regularly scheduled class period per day for the purpose of individual planning and preparation. All itinerant staff will receive a minimum of 25 minutes of duty-free lunch time daily.
