Common use of Jury/Witness Leave Clause in Contracts

Jury/Witness Leave. a) Any employee called upon to serve on jury duty, subpoenaed as a Crown witness or subpoenaed as a witness in any legal proceedings other than as set out in clause 11.5 c), shall notify their Manager at the earliest possible moment and submit a copy of the notice of jury duty selection or subpoena before being relieved from duty, unless there is insufficient time to do so. The employee shall be paid their regular hourly rate for all hours during which the employee would have been normally scheduled to work, less any amount received by way of fees for service on a jury or as a witness.
