Common use of LAYOFF, BUMPING AND RECALL Clause in Contracts

LAYOFF, BUMPING AND RECALL. (A) Definition of Layoff Except as described in 11(F) a layoff shall be defined as: 1. a reduction in the number of Category 1 regular employees, 2. a reduction in the regular hours of work of regular employees as defined in this Agreement, or 3. a result of school term closures or seasonal layoffs as per (B)4 of this Article. (B) Intent to Layoff, Bumping, Layoff/Severance and Recall Procedure Both parties recognize that job security should increase in proportion to length of service. Therefore, in the event of a layoff under Article 11(A) 1 or 2, Category 1 regular employees shall be laid off by classification in the reverse order of their seniority. The Board shall give intent to layoff letters only to those employees having positions eliminated.
