Common use of Leave for Family Bereavement Clause in Contracts

Leave for Family Bereavement. A unit member shall be allowed a maximum of five (5) consecutive duty days of absence without loss of salary upon the death of a child, parent (natural, xxxxxx or in-law), brother, sister, husband, wife, or anyone who has lived regularly in his/he household. A unit member shall be allowed a maximum of two (2) consecutive duty days of absence without loss of salary upon the death of a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grand-child, aunt, uncle, nephew, niece or spouse's grandparents. In the event of unusual travel, memorial service, or personal problems in connection with the use of bereavement leave, additional leave days or a reconfiguration of consecutive days may be granted by the Superintendent.
