Leave for Personal Necessity and Family Illness. 12.3.1 An employee may use sick leave described in subsection 12.2.1 above for purposes of personal necessity as enumerated below, provided the use for such purposes does not exceed nine (9) days in any school year.

  • Leave for Family Illness In the case of illness of a member of an employee’s immediate family, meaning spouse, son, daughter, father, mother, or person to whom the employee is legal guardian when no one at home other than the employee can provide for the needs of the ill person, the employee may be granted, after notifying her immediate management supervisor, leave with pay up to five (5) working days per fiscal year, for the purpose of making such arrangements as are necessary to permit the employee’s return to work. The immediate management supervisor may require proof of the need for such leave as she considers necessary.

  • Application for Personal Leave 21.24 Reasonable and legitimate requests for personal leave will be approved subject to available credits. Subject to clause 21.8 the employer may grant personal leave in the following circumstances:

  • Family Illness The start of a family leave for a serious health condition of a family member shall begin on the date requested by the employee or designated by Management.

  • Family Medical Leave Act Pursuant to the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, an employee who has been employed at least twelve (12) months and worked at least 1,250 hours during the prior 12-month period is entitled to twelve (12) work weeks of leave during any 12-month period without pay but with group health insurance coverage maintained for one or more of the following reasons:

  • Leave for Birth of Child On the occasion of the birth of his child, a male employee shall be granted special leave with pay up to a maximum of one (1) day during the confinement of the mother. This leave may be divided into two (2) periods and granted on separate days.

  • Leave Without Pay for Personal Needs Leave without pay will be granted for personal needs, in the following manner:
