Application for Personal Leave. A. Employees desiring to take personal leave must submit an application for such leave, at least two (2) work days in advance of the day desired off, to the Section Head or Supervisor of Classified Personnel. Such an application should be submitted through the employee's immediate supervisor, and such supervisor should indicate on the application his/her recommendation regarding the application. Such application must indicate that personal leave is taken in one-half or one day segments.
Application for Personal Leave. An employee must request personal leave at least five (5) calendar days in advance of such leave. The Superintendent of Schools or designee may make exceptions to this requirement in the event of emergency circumstances. Such leave requests will be approved if they are not in conflict with the needs of the School District. Requests for personal leave will be acted upon expeditiously. When a request for personal leave is disapproved, the teacher will receive, in writing, the reason for the disapproval.

All requests for personal leave must be submitted in writing, except emergency leave, to the ADMINISTRATION, when possible, at least leave five (5) working days in advance of the school day on which the Licensed Educational Interpreter desires to be off on personal leave.

Application for Personal Leave. 31.23. Reasonable and legitimate requests for personal leave will be approved subject to available credits. Subject to clause 31.8, the Employer may grant personal leave in the following circumstances: Where the Employee is ill or injured; To provide care or support to a member of the Employee’s family or household who requires care or support because of an illness or injury to the member; or an unexpected emergency affecting the member; For unanticipated matters of a compassionate or pressing nature which arise without notice and require immediate attention; By prior approval of the Employer having regard for the Department’s requirements and the needs of the Employee, planned matters where arrangements can not be organised outside of normal working hours or be accommodated by the utilisation of flexitime credits by Employees working according to approved flexible working hours arrangements or other leave. Planned personal leave will not be approved for regular ongoing situations.
Application for Personal Leave. (Certificated) Article 3.7 I hereby apply for day(s) of personal leave as authorized in Article 3.7 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The employer may grant personal leave in the following circumstances: where the employee is ill or injured; to care for members of their family or household who are ill; for unanticipated matters of a compassionate or pressing nature which arise without notice and require immediate attention; or by prior approval of the employer, having regard for operational requirements and the needs of the employee, planned matters where arrangements cannot be organised outside of normal working hours or be accommodated by the utilisation of flexible working hours or other leave. Planned personal leave will not be approved for regular ongoing situations. Employees must complete the necessary application and clearly identify which of the above circumstances apply to their personal leave request. The definition of family shall be the definition contained in the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 for “relative”. That is, a person who is related to the employee by blood, marriage, affinity or adoption and includes a person who is wholly or mainly dependent on, or is a member of the household of, the employee. Where practicable, the employee must give reasonable notice prior to taking leave. Where prior notice cannot be given, notice must be provided as early as possible on the day of absence. Where possible, an estimate of the period of absence from work shall be provided.
