Family Illness definition

Family Illness as used in this agreement means the illness of a teacher’s own immediate family (husband, wife, children/stepchildren, father, father-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, or other relative or person with whom the teacher may be residing), which requires the presence of the teacher.
Family Illness shall be defined as illness of a member of the bargaining unit employee’s family who requires the attention and care of a Health Care Provider.
Family Illness. A maximum of twelve (12) days of accumulated sick leave will be allowed per year for illness in the "immediate family."

  • Family Illness or Injury: Employees may annually use eight medical leave days for family illness.

  • In the event that a non-resident parent requires support due to a serious medical condition as confirmed by a medical practitioner, such time will be provided under the Family Illness provisions of this Article.

Family Illness. For the duration of this contract (2011-2014), up to a total of two (2) days of sick leave during the work year shall be allowed for illness in “the immediate family” where it becomes necessary for the nurse to assist in the care of those immediate family members who are ill. Immediate family shall include a nurse’s spouse, children, or parents when such relatives reside in the nurse’s household.
Family Illness means that leaves shall be granted for serious illness of an applicant’s spouse, civil union partner, child, parent, step-child, step-parent, grandparent or any other member of the applicant’s family living within the employee’s household.

Related to Family Illness

  • Family leave means a leave of absence from employment for one (1) of the following reasons: (1) The serious illness of an eligible employee; or (2) the serious illness of a member of an eligible employee’s immediate family. Family Leave, by itself or in combination with statutory Parental Leave (as opposed to contractual parental leave), may not exceed twelve (12) weeks in a twelve (12) month period beginning with the first day either type of leave is used. Leave taken under this Agreement will be credited against any such statutory entitlement to the full extent permitted by law.

  • Illness means a sickness or a disease or pathological condition leading to the impairment of normal physiological function which manifests itself during the Policy Period and requires medical treatment.

  • Family or “family member” means your spouse, and any child, stepchild, parent, or parent-in-law who receives more than one-half of his or her support from you or from whom you receive more than one-half of your support.

  • Catastrophic illness or “injury” means an illness or injury that is expected to incapacitate the employee for an extended period of time, or that incapacitates a member of the employee’s family which incapacity requires the employee to take time off from work for an extended period of time to care for that family member, and taking extended time off work creates a financial hardship for the employee because he or she has exhausted all of his or her sick leave and other paid time off.

  • Serious illness means an accident, injury, illness, disease, or physical or mental condition that: poses imminent danger of death; requires inpatient care in a hospital, hospice, or residential medical facility; or requires continuing in-home care under the direction of a physician or health care provider. Related current definitions are summarized in (f) below.

  • Sickness means an illness or disease diagnosed or treated by a Physician.

  • Disability means total and permanent disability as defined in Section 22(e)(3) of the Code.

  • Service disabled veteran business means a business that is at least 51 percent owned by one or more service disabled veterans or, in the case of a corporation, partnership, or limited liability company or other entity, at least 51 percent of the equity ownership interest in the corporation, partnership, or limited liability company or other entity is owned by one or more individuals who are service disabled veterans and both the management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more individuals who are service disabled veterans.
