Leave for Public Duties. The District recognizes the right of employees to run for public office. Upon written request to the Chief Administrative Officer, an employee shall be granted up to three months leave of absence without pay to be a candidate for a full time office as an MP or MLA. On being elected, and upon written request to the Chief Administrative Officer, the employee shall be granted an indefinite leave of absence without pay or benefits for a period of up to five years or until a subsequent election is held - whichever period is longer.
