LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR EXECUTIVE DUTIES. 17.01 A teacher, being a member of The Manitoba Teachers’ Society Executive Committee, or the Executive Committee of any branch thereof, or of any special committee of the Society, or being appointed an official representative or delegate of the Society or of any branch thereof, and being authorized by the Executive Committee of the Society to attend a meeting of the committee of which he/she is a member, or to act as a representative or delegate of the Society or of any branch of the Society in a matter of Society business requiring absence from school, shall have the right to attend such meetings or to act as such representative or delegate and shall be excused from school duties for either purpose or both purposes on not more than a total of twelve (12) teaching days in any school year. A part time President of the Association and any teacher elected or appointed to the Disability Benefits Plan Case Management Committee or the Disability Benefits Plan Committee, shall be allowed a total of fifteen (15) days in any school year, provided that a substitute satisfactory to the Division can be secured and that the cost of providing such a substitute is assumed by the Society. Any teacher elected to the Provincial Executive, to a maximum of two (2) teachers, shall be allowed a total of forty (40) days per teacher in any school year, provided that a substitute satisfactory to the Division can be secured and that the cost of providing such a substitute is assumed by the Society. Leave of Absence days described in this paragraph are not a part of the one hundred (100) day total stipulated in the following paragraph. No additional Leave of Absence beyond the stipulated number of days in a school year shall be taken for the purposes mentioned above, except with the consent of the Division. No more than twelve (12) teachers shall take such leave on any one day and no more than a total of one hundred (100) days of such leave shall be taken during any school year by all members of the Association without the prior approval of the Division. Time required by teachers to attend grievance or interest arbitrations within the Division shall not be counted within the aforesaid maximums.

17.01 a) A teacher, teacher being a member of The Manitoba Teachers’ ' Society Executive Committee, or the Executive Committee of any branch thereof, or of any special committee of the Society, or being appointed an official representative or delegate of the Society or of any branch thereof, and being authorized by the Executive Committee of the Society to attend a meeting of the committee of which he/she is a member, or to act as a representative or delegate of the Society or of any branch of the Society in a matter of the Society business requiring absence from school, shall have the right to attend such meetings meeting or to act as such a representative or delegate and shall be excused from school duties for either purpose or both purposes on not more than a total of twelve five (125) teaching days in any school year except the Association President who shall be allowed not more than a total of thirteen (13) teaching days in any school year. A part time President maximum of thirty-eight (38) days in total may be taken for the purposes mentioned above during any school year by members of the Association inclusive of the President. A substitute teacher will be provided by the Division, and any where provided, the cost of the substitute shall be borne by the Society.
b) A teacher elected or appointed to being a member of the Disability Benefits Plan Case Management Committee or the Disability Benefits Plan Committee, Provincial Executive of The Manitoba Teachers' Society shall be allowed a total of fifteen ten (15l0) days leave of absence per school year in any school year, provided that a substitute satisfactory addition to the Division can be secured and that days provided for in 5:01(a). For the cost of providing such a substitute is assumed by the Society. Any teacher elected to the Provincial Executive, to a maximum of two additional ten (2) teachers, shall be allowed a total of forty (40) days per teacher in any school year, provided that a substitute satisfactory to the Division can be secured and that the cost of providing such a substitute is assumed by the Society. Leave of Absence days described in this paragraph are not a part of the one hundred (100) day total stipulated in the following paragraph. No additional Leave of Absence beyond the stipulated number of days in a school year shall be taken for the purposes mentioned above, except with the consent of the Division. No more than twelve (12) teachers shall take such leave on any one day and no more than a total of one hundred (10010) days of leave the Society shall reimburse the Division at the rate of one two hundredth (1/200th) of the teacher's applicable salary for each day of leave.
c) A teacher who serves as President or Vice-President of The Manitoba Teachers' Society shall be guaranteed a leave of absence concurrent with their term of office. Upon return from such leave the teacher shall be taken during any school year by all members assigned the same or comparable position that was held prior to said leave. The Division is to be notified upon a teacher being elected to allow as long a notice period as possible. In the case of the Association without the prior approval of the Division. Time required by teachers to attend grievance or interest arbitrations within the Division shall not a special subject area teacher, a suitable replacement must be counted within the aforesaid maximumsavailable.
