Common use of Leave of Absence for Union Duties Clause in Contracts

Leave of Absence for Union Duties. An employee who is elected or appointed to an office with the Union shall, upon application in writing by the Union to the Clerk-Treasurer, be granted leave of absence, without pay, for a period of three (3) months. Upon similar application by the Union within the period of such leave, the employee shall be granted an extension thereof upon similar terms.

Upon similar application by the Union within the period of such leave, the employee shall be granted an one extension thereof upon similar terms. During the period of such leave, the employee shall be deemed to be an employee of the Union, and not the Town, but shall continue to accrue seniority.
