Scheduled overtime opportunities may be mandated. The exception to this would be coverage for unexpected absences. Refused hours will only be tracked for posted overtime opportunities except in the case of Maintenance call-ins. Refused hours will be charged against an employee for any hours they could have worked that they did not sign up for. These hours charged will only be for the machine, equipment operated, or job performed by the operator in that current week. In the event of a call-in for unplanned absences during weekday shifts, the person on the previous shift with the least overtime may be asked to stay over to maintain operations even though a person from the other shift arrangement may have fewer hours. That is, a weekday person may be asked to stay over even though a weekend person has lower hours when it is not practical to contact a weekend person and get the coverage needed in time. With respect to Maintenance call-ins, where there is more than one call-in within one day, call-ins will start with the employee in the trade with the lowest total hours worked and refused. In the event of further call-ins the next employee in the trade required will be called until all employees have been given opportunity to work within their trade in reverse order of lowest total of hours worked and refused. Anyone who refuses a call-in or is not available will be charged the number of paid hours equivalent to the employee who takes the call-in.
