On Call. (a) Employees required to be on-call shall be paid one dollar ($1.00) per hour, or portion thereof.
(b) The minimum on-call requirement shall be four (4) consecutive hours.
(c) Should the Employer require an employee to have a pager, beeper or a cellular phone available during their on-call period, then all related expenses for such device shall be the responsibility of the Employer.
On Call. An employee shall be in an on-call status if the employee's supervisor has instructed the employee, in writing, to remain available to work during an off duty period. An employee who is instructed to be in an on-call status is not required to remain in a fixed location, but must leave word where he or she may be reached by telephone or by an electronic signaling device. An employee who is instructed to remain in an on-call status shall be compensated for such time at the rate of fifteen (15) minutes straight time for each one (1) hour of on-call status. Such compensation shall be limited to four (4) hours of straight time pay per calendar day. An employee called to work while in on-call status shall be compensated as provided in Section 6 of this Article. An employee shall not receive on-call pay for hours actually worked. No employee shall be assigned to on-call status for a period of less than eight (8) consecutive hours. An employee shall have the choice of receiving on-call pay in cash or compensatory overtime. An effort shall be made to distribute on-call work as equally as possible among employees in the same job class and in the same work area who are capable of performing the work and who request the on-call work. If practicable, employees shall be notified of the on-call assignment at least one (1) month in advance.
On Call. 10.1.1 In the interests of healthy rostering practices, the parties agree that the allocation of on-call time should be spread as evenly as practicable amongst those required to participate in an on-call roster.
10.1.2 With effect from 4 June 2018 an employee who is instructed to be on call during normal off duty hours, shall be paid an on call allowance of $8.00 per hour except on Public Holidays when the rate shall be $10.00.
10.1.3 The on call allowance is payable for all hours the employee is rostered on call including time covering an actual call out.
10.1.4 Unless by mutual agreement or in emergencies, no employee shall be required to remain on call for more than 40% of the employee’s off-duty time in any three-weekly period.
10.1.5 In services where the employer’s operational requirements and staffing levels permit, employees working seven day rosters should not be rostered on call on their rostered days off.
10.1.6 An employee who is required to be on call and report on duty within 20 minutes shall have access to an appropriate locater or a cell phone.
On Call. Current agreed-upon arrangements for assigning on-call will continue. If no agreed-upon arrangement exists, the Employer will meet with affected employees at the work unit level to develop a mutually agreed process, with primary consideration for assignment by seniority unless that is impractical in the circumstances. If there is no resolution, then on-call work shall be allocated equitably to qualified employees, considering their availability to meet clinical needs.
On Call. On-call compensation shall be paid when a nurse has been placed on “on-call” status. Such nurse will remain available to report to work on short notice if called by the Medical Center.
On Call. If the Employer requires an employee to remain at home “on call” the Employer shall guarantee the employee four (4) hours’ pay at the appropriate rate for such day. All Employer requests for an employee to remain available for “on call” duty shall be in writing to the employee.
On Call. A supervisor shall be in an on-call status if the supervisor's superior has instructed the supervisor, in writing, to remain available to work during an off duty period. A supervisor who is instructed to be in an on-call status is not required to remain at a fixed location but is required to leave word where he/she may be reached. A supervisor who is instructed to remain in an on-call status shall be compensated for such time on the basis of fifty dollars ($50) for twenty-four (24) hour period or part thereof, not to exceed a maximum of three hundred fifty dollars ($350) per week.
On Call. The University retains the right to determine the need for, and the assignment of, on-call time. An employee is not considered in on-call status unless assigned on-call by the University. Employees in on-call status are required to inform the employer how they can be reached or to carry a pager in order to receive a call to work. An employee in on-call status is not eligible for minimum call-back payments. An employee in on- call status who is called to perform work or to return to the work site will be paid at the regular rate of pay for the time worked. Payment for on-call time paid at the on-call rate is included as part of compensation in calculating the regular rate when determining premium overtime pay.
a. Unrestricted on-call is time during which an employee is free to engage in activities for their own purposes but is required to be available for work or timely return to the work site when called to work. Time in unrestricted on-call status is not counted as hours worked or time on regular pay status when employees are not required to be at the work location or to actually perform work from a location other than the work location. Unrestricted on-call will be compensated at the on-call rate, as listed in Appendix A.
b. Restricted on-call is time during which the employee is required to restrict personal activities so that time cannot be effectively used for their own purposes. Restricted on-call will be considered hours worked and will be paid at the employee's normal pay rate (or overtime if appropriate).
c. If the University proposes to establish an on-call rate for a title in the unit at a location where no rate is listed, the University shall meet and confer with UPTE. When employees in this unit at the location are assigned to work on-call, they shall be paid according to Appendix A. Current on-call rates where established will remain the same for the duration of this contract.
On Call. 18.1 Where an RMO is rostered on call during normal off duty hours, an on-call allowance of $8.00 per hour shall be paid in addition to other remuneration. Where an employee is rostered on call on a Public Holiday the rate shall be $10.00 per hour.
18.2 When an employee is rostered on call, has left their workplace, and is called back to work, all hours worked, including travelling time from the place at which the employee receives that call or home (whichever is the case) to the workplace and return will be paid at additional duties rates as provided in clause 15.
18.3 The parties recognise the unique arrangements for RMOs as a salaried workforce, and the inclusion in the calculation of a salary category of the average unrostered hours worked by RMOs based on reviews of actual time worked beyond their roster shift end. Where an RMO who is rostered on call has been required to remain at the workplace beyond the general period of time recognised in the unrostered hours component of their salary category and is called on to undertake duties relating to their on-call responsibilities then they shall be eligible to receive the call back payment in 18.4 below despite not having been able to leave the workplace.
18.4 Call-backs shall be paid for a minimum of three hours, or for actual working and travelling time, whichever is the greater, except that call-backs commencing and finishing within the minimum period covered by an earlier call-back shall not be paid for. Where a call-back commences before and continues beyond the end of a minimum period for a previous call- back, payment shall be made as if the employee had worked continuously from the beginning of the previous call-back to the end of the later call-back.
18.5 Provided that at the request of the RMOs on a particular roster the call backs may by mutual agreement be included in the salary and shown in the run description. The minimum and maximum in this Clause shall apply when calculating any entitlement.
18.6 Where an employee is requested by the employer to undertake an additional period of on call to cover for an absent colleague on leave or where there is a vacancy on the roster, the minimum allowance payable for the associated hours on call shall be $25.00 per hour in place of the amount specified in clause 18.1. This does not apply in the case of an agreed “RMO initiated swap”.
18.7 Where the employer requires the employee to participate in an on-call roster:
