On Call Sample Clauses
On Call. (a) Employees required to be on-call shall be paid one dollar ($1.00) per hour, or portion thereof.
(b) The minimum on-call requirement shall be four (4) consecutive hours.
(c) Should the Employer require an employee to have a pager, beeper or a cellular phone available during their on-call period, then all related expenses for such device shall be the responsibility of the Employer.
On Call. An employee shall be in an on-call status if the employee's supervisor has instructed the employee, in writing, to remain available to work during an off duty period. An employee who is instructed to be in an on-call status is not required to remain in a fixed location, but must leave word where he or she may be reached by telephone or by an electronic signaling device. An employee who is instructed to remain in an on-call status shall be compensated for such time at the rate of fifteen (15) minutes straight time for each one (1) hour of on-call status. Such compensation shall be limited to four (4) hours of straight time pay per calendar day. An employee called to work while in on-call status shall be compensated as provided in Section 6 of this Article. An employee shall not receive on-call pay for hours actually worked. No employee shall be assigned to on-call status for a period of less than eight (8) consecutive hours. An employee shall have the choice of receiving on-call pay in cash or compensatory overtime. An effort shall be made to distribute on-call work as equally as possible among employees in the same job class and in the same work area who are capable of performing the work and who request the on-call work. If practicable, employees shall be notified of the on-call assignment at least one (1) month in advance.
On Call. 10.1.1 In the interests of healthy rostering practices, the parties agree that the allocation of on-call time should be spread as evenly as practicable amongst those required to participate in an on-call roster.
10.1.2 With effect from 4 June 2018 an employee who is instructed to be on call during normal off duty hours, shall be paid an on call allowance of $8.00 per hour except on Public Holidays when the rate shall be $10.00.
10.1.3 The on call allowance is payable for all hours the employee is rostered on call including time covering an actual call out.
10.1.4 Unless by mutual agreement or in emergencies, no employee shall be required to remain on call for more than 40% of the employee’s off-duty time in any three-weekly period.
10.1.5 In services where the employer’s operational requirements and staffing levels permit, employees working seven day rosters should not be rostered on call on their rostered days off.
10.1.6 An employee who is required to be on call and report on duty within 20 minutes shall have access to an appropriate locater or a cell phone.
On Call. Current agreed-upon arrangements for assigning on-call will continue. If no agreed-upon arrangement exists, the Employer will meet with affected employees at the work unit level to develop a mutually agreed process, with primary consideration for assignment by seniority unless that is impractical in the circumstances. If there is no resolution, then on-call work shall be allocated equitably to qualified employees, considering their availability to meet clinical needs.
On Call. On-call compensation shall be paid when a nurse has been placed on “on-call” status. Such nurse will remain available to report to work on short notice if called by the Medical Center.
On Call i. For the purposes of this Agreement, an employee shall be deemed to be on-call if required by Council to be available for duty outside of ordinary hours at all times in order to attend emergency and/or breakdown work, and/or supervise the call-out of other employees.
ii. Employees who are required to be on-call are not required to remain at their usual place of residence, or other place appointed by Council. However, an on-call employee must be able to be contacted and be able to respond within a reasonable time.
iii. Employees required to be on call on days when they would ordinarily work, or would have ordinarily worked but for a public holiday, in accordance with Clause 22 - Hours of Work shall be paid an on call allowance at a rate set out in Table 2 of Part B of this Agreement for each such day the employee is required to be on call.
iv. Employees required to be on call on days other than their ordinary working days shall be paid an on call allowance at a rate set out in Table 2 of Part B of this Agreement for each such day the employee is required to be on call.
v. The on call allowances in subclauses iii. and iv. of this clause shall not total more than the rate set out in Table 2 of Part B of this Agreement for any one week.
vi. Employees on call who are required to work outside their ordinary hours shall be entitled to be paid overtime at the appropriate rate for hours worked and such rate shall be paid from the time that the employee departs for work and the time the employee returns from work. On call employees are not subject to the minimum ‘call back’ payment provisions of Clause 23C.
vii. For each public holiday an employee is required to be on-call, the employee shall be granted an additional half day time in lieu to be taken at an agreed time, or with prior agreement the Council may pay the employee an additional half day in lieu of leave.
viii. Employees on call who are required to work on a public holiday shall be entitled to be paid overtime at the appropriate rate for the hours worked, in addition to ordinary pay for the public holiday. Such overtime rate shall be paid from the time the employee departs for work and the time the employee returns from work. On call employees who are required to work on a public holiday are not subject to the minimum ‘call back’ payment provisions of Clause 23C.
On Call. If the Employer requires an employee to remain at home “on call” the Employer shall guarantee the employee four (4) hours’ pay at the appropriate rate for such day. All Employer requests for an employee to remain available for “on call” duty shall be in writing to the employee.
On Call. A supervisor shall be in an on-call status if the supervisor's superior has instructed the supervisor, in writing, to remain available to work during an off duty period. A supervisor who is instructed to be in an on-call status is not required to remain at a fixed location but is required to leave word where he/she may be reached. A supervisor who is instructed to remain in an on-call status shall be compensated for such time on the basis of fifty dollars ($50) for twenty-four (24) hour period or part thereof, not to exceed a maximum of three hundred fifty dollars ($350) per week.
On Call. The University retains the right to determine the need for, and the assignment of, on-call time. An employee is not considered in on-call status unless assigned on-call by the University. Employees in on-call status are required to inform the employer how they can be reached or to carry a pager in order to receive a call to work. An employee in on-call status is not eligible for minimum call-back payments. An employee in on- call status who is called to perform work or to return to the work site will be paid at the regular rate of pay for the time worked. Payment for on-call time paid at the on-call rate is included as part of compensation in calculating the regular rate when determining premium overtime pay.
a. Unrestricted on-call is time during which an employee is free to engage in activities for their own purposes but is required to be available for work or timely return to the work site when called to work. Time in unrestricted on-call status is not counted as hours worked or time on regular pay status when employees are not required to be at the work location or to actually perform work from a location other than the work location. Unrestricted on-call will be compensated at the on-call rate, as listed in Appendix A.
b. Restricted on-call is time during which the employee is required to restrict personal activities so that time cannot be effectively used for their own purposes. Restricted on-call will be considered hours worked and will be paid at the employee's normal pay rate (or overtime if appropriate).
c. If the University proposes to establish an on-call rate for a title in the unit at a location where no rate is listed, the University shall meet and confer with UPTE. When employees in this unit at the location are assigned to work on-call, they shall be paid according to Appendix A. Current on-call rates where established will remain the same for the duration of this contract.
On Call. Employees entitled to overtime pay who are officially assigned to be on-call during their normal work week shall receive one
(1) hour of pay at their regular hourly rate of pay for each eight (8) hour period of on-call or fraction thereof.
