Common use of LEAVES OF ABSENCE, SICK LEAVE, BEREAVEMENT LEAVE AND JURY DUTY Clause in Contracts

LEAVES OF ABSENCE, SICK LEAVE, BEREAVEMENT LEAVE AND JURY DUTY. 20.01 The Employer shall, subject to reasonable business requirements, grant leaves of absence without pay for a time mutually agreed upon between the Employer and the employee for the following reasons: a. marriage of the employee; b. sickness of the employee or employee's immediate family; c. death in the immediate family; d. participation in union sponsored training or other educational events; e. birth or adoption of the employee’s child. 20.02 In the event an employee is absent from work for more than two (2) consecutive days, or more than ten (10) days within a calendar year due to illness, the Employer may request that the employee provide written verification by a practicing physician. 20.03 An employee shall be granted three (3) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay for the birth or adoption of an employee’s child. 20.04 An employee shall be granted three (3) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to make arrangements for and to attend the funeral of an immediate family member which shall include; a. The employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, b. The employee’s parent, step-parent, xxxxxx parent, or parent of his spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, c. The child, step-child, xxxxxx child or, grandchild or step grandchild of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner; d. The spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner of the employee’s child, step-child, or xxxxxx child; e. The employee’s brother or sister 20.05 An employee shall be granted a one (1) day leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to attend the funeral of an aunt, uncle, xxxxx, nephew, cousin of the employee, a grandparent, or step-grandparent of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner;

Such verification shall assess the extent to which the employee is able to perform the functions, duties and work of the job classification to which such employee is normally assigned. 20.03 An employee shall be granted three (3) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay for the birth or adoption of an employee’s child. 20.04 19.04 An employee shall be granted three (3) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to make arrangements for and to attend the funeral of an immediate family member which shall include; a. The employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, b. The employee’s parent, step-parent, xxxxxx parent, or parent of his spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, c. The child, step-child, xxxxxx child or, grandchild or step grandchild of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner; d. The spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner of the employee’s child, step-child, or xxxxxx child; e. The employee’s brother or sister 20.05 19.05 An employee shall be granted a one (1) day leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to attend the funeral of an aunt, uncle, xxxxxniece, nephew, cousin of the employee, a grandparent, or step-grandparent of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner; 19.06 The Employer shall pay the regular daily wages of an employee while serving as a juror, less any daily stipend or reimbursement from the court, for up to ten (10) work days provided the employee: a. notifies the Employer immediately that he is required to attend court for jury selection; and, b. presents proof of service requiring the employee’s attendance.

The employee’s brother or sister 20.05 19.04 An employee shall be granted a one (1) day leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to attend the funeral of other relatives, which shall include an aunt, uncle, xxxxxniece, nephew, nephew or cousin of the employee. 19.05 The Employer shall pay the regular daily wages of an employee while serving as a juror, a grandparentless any daily stipend or reimbursement from the court, or step-grandparent for up to ten (10) work days provided the employee: a. notifies the Employer immediately that he is required to attend court for jury selection; b. presents proof of the employee or service requiring the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner;attendance.

The employee’s brother or sister 20.05 20.04 An employee shall be granted a one (1) day leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to attend the funeral of other relatives, which shall include an aunt, uncle, xxxxxniece, nephew, or cousin of the employee. 20.05 An employee shall be granted a leave of absence for jury duty. 20.06 An employee shall be granted three (3) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay for the birth or adoption of an employee’s child. This leave shall be paid for the number of regular hours that an employee would have worked on that day, a grandparentand only for days on which an employee is absent from work. 20.07 Full-time employees shall be entitled to sick leave, or step-grandparent of as follows: a. Two (2) paid sick days per calendar year, provided the employee or has completed one (1) year of service; b. Three (3) paid sick days per calendar year, provided the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partneremployees has completed two (2) years of service; c. Four

Such verification must confirm that the employee is able to perform all functions, duties, and work of the job classification to which such employee is normally assigned. 20.03 19.03 Notwithstanding the above, the Employer may request that an employee provide a physician's certificate for any absence due to illness in excess of two (2) days or in excess of three (3) occasions in one calendar year, which shall be at the employee's expense. 19.04 An employee shall be granted three five (35) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay for the birth or adoption of an employee’s child. 20.04 An employee shall be granted three (3) days days’ leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to make arrangements for and to attend the funeral of an immediate family member which shall include;: a. The the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner,; b. The the employee’s parent, step-parent, xxxxxx parent, or parent of his spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner,; c. The the child, step-child, xxxxxx child orchild, grandchild or step step-grandchild of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner; d. The the spouse, common-law spouse spouse, or same sex partner of the employee’s child, step-child, or xxxxxx child;; or e. The x. the employee’s brother or sister. 20.05 19.05 An employee shall be granted a one three (13) day days’ leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to attend the funeral of an aunt, uncle, xxxxx, nephew, cousin of the employee, a grandparent, or step-step- grandparent of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-common- law spouse or same sex partner;. 19.06 An employee shall be granted three (3) days leave of absence as his regular rate of pay for the birth or adoption of the employee’s child. 19.07 An employee shall be granted two (2) paid sick days a year provided they produce appropriate medical documentation as per Article 19.02 and 19.03.

This leave shall be paid for the number of regular hours that an employee would have worked on that day, common-law spouse or same sex partner;and only for days on which an employees is absent from work.

Such verification must confirm that the employee is able to perform all functions, duties and work of the job classification to which such employee is normally assigned. 20.03 An 19.03 Notwithstanding the above, the Employer may request that an employee shall be granted provide a physician's certificate for any absence due to illness in excess of two (2) days or in excess of three (3) days leave of absence occasions in one calendar year, which shall be at his regular rate of pay for the birth or adoption of an employee’s child's expense. 20.04 19.04 An employee shall be granted three (3) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to make arrangements for and to attend the funeral of an immediate family member which shall include; a. The employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, b. The employee’s parent, step-parent, xxxxxx parent, or parent of his spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, c. The child, step-child, xxxxxx child or, grandchild or step grandchild of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner; d. The spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner of the employee’s child, step-child, or xxxxxx child; e. The employee’s brother or sister 20.05 19.05 An employee shall be granted a one (1) day leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to attend the funeral of an aunt, uncle, xxxxx, nephew, cousin of the employee, a grandparent, or step-step- grandparent of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-common- law spouse or same sex partner;

Such verification shall assess the extent to which the employee is able to perform the functions, duties and work of the job classification to which such employee is normally assigned. 20.03 An employee shall be granted three (3) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay for the birth or adoption of an employee’s child. 20.04 An employee shall be granted three (3) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to make arrangements for and to attend the funeral of an immediate family member which shall include; a. The employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, b. The employee’s parent, step-parent, xxxxxx parent, or parent of his spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, c. The child, step-child, xxxxxx child or, grandchild or step grandchild of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner; d. The spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner of the employee’s child, step-child, or xxxxxx child; e. Such verification shall assess the extent to which the employee is able to perform the functions, duties and work of the job classification to which such employee is normally assigned. 20.03 19.04 An employee shall be granted three five (3) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay for the birth or adoption of an employee’s child. 20.04 An employee shall be granted three (35) days leave of absence at his regular rate of pay to make arrangements for and to attend the funeral of an immediate family member which shall include; a. The employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, b. The employee’s parent, step-parent, xxxxxx parent, or parent of his spouse, common-law spouse or same-sex partner, c. The child, step-child, xxxxxx child or, grandchild or step grandchild of the employee or the employee’s spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner; d. The spouse, common-law spouse or same sex partner of the employee’s child, step-child, or xxxxxx child; e. For each day per calendar year that an employee fails to report to work without notifying the Employer of the absence prior to the beginning of their shift, one (1) of the above paid sick days shall be forfeit to that employee. Should any legislation provided for paid sick days, the number of paid sick days provided by legislation shall be deducted from the above. That is, the maximum amount of sick days the Employer is obligated to pay is listed above, unless legislation provides for a greater benefit than the above.
