Common use of LIEU TIME (OVERTIME, COURT TIME, STATUTORY Clause in Contracts

LIEU TIME (OVERTIME, COURT TIME, STATUTORY. ½ TIME) (a) Where a member completes a period of OVERTIME, COURT TIME or STATUTORY ½ TIME (as outlined in Article 5.04), the member shall indicate on the prescribed form as to whether he or she elects to be paid for such time or to take time off in lieu thereof. (b) Periods of such time which a member has elected to take as lieu time off shall be allowed to accumulate in the lieu time register to a maximum combined total of sixty (60) hours of straight time per calendar year which shall be paid out on the first pay in December but in any event not later than December 15th of each year. (c) The credited hours, in the lieu time register, may be taken as time off by the member, as part of a day, with the approval of the members Supervisor, except where the member requests more than six (6) hours of time off, from any one shift, in which case such time off is subject to the approval of the Administration. (d) A member may inform the Chief of Police prior to the 15th day of October of the calendar year that he or she elects to carry a maximum of forty (40) hours at straight time into the following year. Except in extenuating circumstances, such carried time shall be taken off at a mutually agreeable time prior to the 28th day of February of the following year and, if not taken off, shall be assigned.
