Long Term Illness. In the event of a long-term absence due to illness, the employee shall utilize the sick leave allowance available under this article until not more than five days of sick leave remains available. The employee shall have the option of reserving not more than five days of sick leave before receiving benefits under the Disability Insurance Program, provided the request is made in writing prior to five days before the sick leave allowance is to be fully used. An election to reserve up to five days of the sick leave allowance may not be revoked.
