Long Term Leave. Any employee who declines a reappointment as a Teaching Assistant in order to interrupt his/her program of graduate study for a period not to exceed one (1) year will not jeopardize his/her consideration for reappointment under Article l3.03.
Long Term Leave. Leaves without pay may be granted at the discretion of the Board to a maximum of one (1) year at a time without loss of previous service credit.
a) Except for statutory leaves, a teacher must have completed two (2) years of employment with the Board at the time of the request. Such application shall be made in writing on or before February 15 of the previous year.
b) A teacher while on such leave who wishes to request an extension of said leave must make such application in writing on or before February 15 of the school year in which the leave is taken. Should no request of extension be made in writing to the Superintendent of the Human Resource Services on or before February 15, it is understood and expected that the teacher will return to an assigned position.
Long Term Leave. Unpaid long-term leaves for personal reasons, in excess of ten (10) days, may be granted.
Long Term Leave. A long-term leave of absence, without pay and benefits, for a period of up to one
(1) calendar year may be granted at the sole discretion of the College. A request for such leave must be in writing. Good and sufficient reason for the request must be shown. Individual cases will be decided on their own merit and such leave of absence approval shall be non-precedential. While on such leave an employee shall not accrue additional seniority however, the employee shall be allowed to participate in the College group health, dental and life insurance programs, provided the employee shall make timely advance payments of the full cost due for such insurance to the designated College office. Upon written confirmation that the employee desires to return after the leave expiration, the employee shall be reinstated in the same or substantially similar position, if such a position becomes available within sixty (60) calendar days from termination of the leave.
Long Term Leave. Subd 1. Eligibility: Employees who have a minimum of three (3) years experience in the School District may apply for an unpaid leave of absence once during their district employment, due to health reasons, educational purposes, election to political office, approved travel or a career change/retraining. Additional leaves may be granted at the discretion of Human Resources for health reasons or election to political office.
Long Term Leave. A professional leave of absence may be granted to teachers in the district by the Board of Directors. Such leave may be granted for professional study, educational travel, exchange teaching in a foreign country, or for work in a field which is contributory in specific skill and subordinate to the employee's work assignment. No more than two employees per contract year shall be granted long term leave. The district is obligated to reemploy a teacher on professional leave upon written request received by the district no later than March 15, prior to the school year he/she intends to return. The employee on leave shall maintain his/her place on the salary schedule. A year of experience will be recognized for each year of exchange teaching. The assignment of the returning teacher will be at the convenience of the district and in an equivalent position, if possible.
Long Term Leave. A long-term leave of absence for a period of up to one (1) calendar year without pay may be granted at the sole discretion of the College President or designee. A request for such leave must be in writing. Good and sufficient reason for the request must be shown and individual cases will be decided on their own merit. Upon indication that the employee wishes to return, the employee shall be reinstated in the same or like position, if such a position becomes available within ninety (90) calendar days from termination of the leave.
Long Term Leave. A long-term leave of absence without pay or fringe benefits, of up to five (5) years may be granted to a teacher at the sole and unlimited discretion of the School Board. The length of the long-term leave shall not, however, exceed the number of years the teacher has served in the School District. The beginning and ending dates of such leave shall coincide with the beginning of the semesters of the school year. On or before January 1, the School District will send the teacher a letter notifying them of the February 1 deadline, with a copy to the association. A teacher intending to return from a long-term leave at the start of a semester during the next school year must notify the district in writing by February 1 of either confirmation of or a request to change the date of their return or they shall forfeit their reinstatement rights and shall be considered to have resigned. The leave may be used for the purpose of engaging in study at an accredited college or university in the field of the teacher's present assignment in the School District or closely associated to this assignment, foreign or military teaching programs, the Peace Corps, or Job Corps as a full-time participant in such program, work program related to a teacher's professional position, election to office in a teacher organization or election to public office. Upon expiration of the leave of absence, a continuing contract teacher shall be returned to the same or an equivalent contractual position, and the continuing contract shall remain in effect. Probationary teachers may be returned to an equivalent contractual position only if a vacancy exists. In the event no vacancy exists, the teacher may elect to remain on leave. For purposes of this section, a vacancy will be deemed to exist when a long-term substitute has replaced the teacher on leave. Any teacher on long-term leave of absence shall retain all seniority, salary and fringe benefits that the teacher had accrued prior to taking the long-term leave of absence. This leave shall not normally be granted for the purpose of accepting employment in another school district. The teacher on leave under this section shall be entitled to maintain participation in group insurance programs, if acceptable to the carrier or carriers, provided the teacher arranges with the business office for the payment of the premium. Long Term Leave. A teacher returning from a leave of absence of more than ninety (90) school days shall be returned to a position comparable to that held before the leave. This shall not prohibit the Board from returning said teacher to his/her former position. However, there is no guarantee that any teacher will be returned to a specific building, grade level or special assignment at the conclusion of a period of absence.
